Visual Communication I

This introductory course explores the fundamentals of design and visual communication.  Basic principles of typography, image creation/manipulation, and composition will be explored via a combination of software demonstrations (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign) , hands-on exercises, and long-term assignments. This course establishes a thorough understanding of digital production and a foundational comprehension of good design, emphasizing the development of a coherent visual voice and quality
craftsmanship.

Visual Communication II

This course introduces and develops orthographic drawings, including plans, sections,
elevations and axonometric drawings in pencil and ink. Covers drafting as a design communication and design process skill and auxiliary skills of lettering and template drawing, model building and presentation methods from original to reproducible.

Visual Communication III

This course is an intensive introduction to two and three dimensional drawing and visualization through the computer.

Key Objectives:

– Develop competency in computer generated orthographic drawings using AutoCAD.
– Develop competency in 3-D Modeling using SketchUp Pro.
– Understand the workflow process in transitioning from multiple computer programs
– Understand architectural drawing and rendering as a graphic language
– Begin to utilize software as a productive design tool
– Students are able to produce competent presentation drawings across a range of appropriate media.
– Students apply a variety of communication techniques and technologies appropriate to a range of purposes and audiences.
– Develop a personal graphic style that informs the production of computer generated drawings and imagery.

Architectural Drawing I

Introduces the basic skills of architectural representation through drawing, including drafted and freehand techniques in a variety of media. Also introduces techniques of digital documentation.

Architectural Drawing II

INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE.

Exploring the relationship between humans and their surrounding environment.
